Shirley Ann Greear

Shirley Ann (Fisk) Greear, widow of Thomas Greear, died peacefully in her home Friday, January 21st of natural causes. Born in 1936 in McGregor,Texas to Oscar and Alta Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Fisk) Greear. Shirley was the youngest of 12 children. Shirley was a drum majorette her junior and senior year at McGregor High School where she graduated. Shirley worked as a model at Sachs in Waco, Texas and was chosen to represent McGregor, Texas in the Heart of Texas Queen Contest. In October 1955, Shirley married Thomas Ray Greear in Lampasas, Texas at the Church of Christ. In the late 50's the family relocated to Arizona and attended Mesa's Church of Christ, where Thomas was a Deacon in the church. Shirley enjoyed playing piano, quilting, solving crossword puzzles, liked playing the slots at local casinos, watching her police crime shows and shopping for those hidden treasures at antique and thrift stores. Shirley received her Masters in Education from Arizona State University and taught elementary school 1973 until her retirement in 1996. Shirley served Mesa Public Schools with energy, integrity and devotion to the youth and is fondly remembered by many of her former students at Lincoln Elementary School in Mesa, AZ. Shirley has left her legacy and will be missed by her children, Raye (Larry) Pine and Coury (Sheila) Greear (former wife Brenda Kiefer). Grandchildren, Justin (Sarah) Pine, Coury (Megan) Greear II, Lindsey (Daniel) Diaz-Gonzales, Kyle Greear, Codi (Clayton) Stonehouse, Chantel (Brian) Buchler, Rene (Roxana) Noriega, and 11 great grandchildren as well as many friends and extended family. Viewing will be Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at Meldrum Mortuary in Mesa, AZ with a short service following at 6:00 p.m. Private interment of ashes at a later date.
