Efren Cuevas Barragan

August 11, 1952 - November 5, 2021

EFREN B. CUEVAS Our loving father, son and grandfather Efren B. Cuevas was called to return to the side of his beloved wife in the heavens after a battle with cancer on November 5th 2021. He is survived by his mother, 3 sisters, 5 children and 12 grandchildren. He was born in Arteaga, Michoacan, Mexico to Efren A. Cuevas and Irene L. Barragan only son among 5 children. He grew up working hard alongside his father at a very young age and eventually working alone to provide for his family years later. Efren and his wife Maria Guadalupe Z. Cuevas whom he married on June 14th 1976, had 5 children. They migrated to America in 1986 to establish new roots in Mesa, AZ. It is here where Efren started his long career in masonry and was able to be part of the construction of few buildings throughout the valley such as the Cardinal Stadium, Chase Stadium, Coyote stadium, Mesa Police Department, fire station in Guadalupe, and many schools throughout the state to name a few. His job was truly his passion and it came to an end in 2008 when he retired. Over the years anyone who met Efren could understand why so many grew fond of him, he was charismatic, kind, funny and full of life. He enjoyed the great outdoors, camping, fishing, hiking, traveling, music, watching soccer and most of all his family. All of his sacrifices and love he provided to his family, friends and willingness to always help will never be forgotten, he will be dearly missed and remembered by many. Viewing will be held on Monday, Nov. 15th, 2021, 6-8pm at Meldrum Mortuary in Mesa, AZ and Funeral will begin at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Tues. Nov. 16th, 2021 at 10am with interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Mesa, AZ.
