December 5, 1941 - February 7, 2020
Dorothy Ann Moore was born December 5, 1941 to Leonard and Eloise Ethington. Being the second oldest of eleven children, she had a lot of responsibility to clean the house and help with the little ones. She loved the time she spent with her family, they were her best friends. She always had a special relationship with her older sister, Barbara, and is probably enjoying their sweet reunion right now. Education was important to her. Even as a child she would walk quite a while to catch the bus for school. Coming from a poorer family, Dorothy worked from the age of 15 to help support her family and pay for her education. She attended Arizona State University and got a degree in business education, specializing in shorthand. Dorothy met her eternal companion, Ronald Moore, in her senior year of college. They danced their way through dating, enjoying each other’s company. Dorothy was smitten immediately. They married May 18, 1963 after Ron said, “Will you wear it or something?” It led to a lifelong discussion of who asked whom. Dorothy held various jobs throughout her life. From customer service at the Dime Store, secretary for the Football Office at ASU, to office manager at B&F Contracting. She treasured the many relationships she made through each opportunity. Dorothy was a proud mommy. Her family was her life. She spent individual time with each child, letting them know of their importance. She loved to watch her kids participate in sports. She was often seen yelling and running down the sidelines cheering them on. She was proud as they served missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and pursued their choices in education and a profession. That love and support continued for her 25 grandchildren as well. She logged a lot of hours sitting in the bleachers. She was so proud of her grandkids and often bragged about all their accomplishments. In the last few years her love expanded as she welcomed 4 great-grandchildren as well. Service was an essential element of Dorothy’s life. Dorothy and Ron spent over 22 years serving in the family history center, working on their family history and helping others find their own relatives. They served multiple missions including the historic site of Cove Fort. They treasured the friendships those services opportunities afforded them. Dorothy Moore is survived by her husband Ronald Moore, her children: Ty (Wendi), Cindy (Brigham), Kristi, Chad (Mari Mar), Lance (Stephanie), and Rachel (Garett), her siblings: Larry, Jerry, Dean, Terri, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
